Aboard

Possibly the only good thing to come out of the recent ratification of the Treaty of Lisbon (which, pithily but accurately summarized in a sub clause, makes the EU far less democratic) is the reallocation of seats in the European Parliament. Sweden gets two more seats, and one goes to the Pirate Party’s runner-up Amelia Andersdotter, the youngest MEP by far in its history at 22 years old and quite possibly one of the most brilliant. The changes will take effect with the rest of the treaty in just over two weeks, on December 1st.

Another entrance of note is Anders Nordin. Anders Nordin was one of the first two party leaders to be elected to the Swedish Green Party, and has come out strongly against the seven parties in the Swedish parliament, saying “they belong on the garbage heap of history”, and announcing his candidacy for the Swedish parliament on the Pirate Party list.

I guess the established parties are lucky we just want to download other people’s stuff for free from the Internet, or they might actually have to take notice.
