Conference Called

Within the past 24 hours, I’ve been invited to appear at two third-party iPhone developer conferences this fall. I’m honored by the invitations, but I’m spoken for this fall, so I can’t go.

One of the conferences was a Scandinavian conference which date is not set in stone. (I’ll mention it again once I find out more.)

The other conference was the Voices That Matter iPhone Developers Conference 2009 held in Boston in mid-October. By not going, I’m missing out on people like “Wolf” Rentzsch, Daniel Jalkut, Erica Sadun and Fraser Speirs; people who make solid things, talk engagingly about it, who I’ve followed for years and who I’m guessing I could well stand to be around. Pearson Education was kind enough to extend a rebate code, PHBLOG, along with the invitation; this yields $100 off of registration and is also soluble in the “early bird” pricing.

Obviously, being invited is an ego boost of some order, but I also hope it means that when I rattle on for kilobyte after kilobyte about… certain aspects of the iPhone, people are taking an interest.
