(See: Visto Announces Secure Corporate Email for Apple iPhone.)
Visto, the leading provider of mobile email solutions for business users, today announced the support of corporate email functionality for the Apple iPhone.
Visto, one of around 80 providers of mobile email solutions for business users that claim they are the “leading” provider, today released some vague statements about an upcoming solution for Exchange on iPhone, amounting to little more than verbal hand-waving.
Through Visto, iPhone users will be able to experience secure mobile access to current and legacy versions of both Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus Domino corporate messaging platforms. Visto will enable access that is easy to implement and administer and will alleviate IT concerns regarding security and reliability.
Visto will deliver something that’s pants-droppingly good. We will not tell you how or why it works. Considering how this press release is labelled June 28, we have also likely not ever held an iPhone.
Visto Mobile will directly offer secure and easy-to-use mobile access to corporate and personal email for the iPhone in the United States. Additionally, Visto Mobile offers iPhone users peace of mind by securing their personal information using end-to-end security. For IT departments, this means that they can encrypt and protect sensitive corporate data without making any changes to their existing security infrastructure.
Visto Mobile, whose primary method of functioning on the iPhone is still unknown, will in the absense of a counterpart press release from Apple to open up third party development to Visto, which, believe you me, would be wonderful for Apple which would love to have Exchange support and not need to get their hands dirty themselves, not deliver Push email, which is what iPhone users will be, and Exchange-on-a-phone users currently are, accustomed to. For IT departments, this means they won’t have to cave in to pressure of the users they are hired to serve and check the damn “Enable IMAP” check box in Exchange Server and open a port in the firewall.
Visto Mobile for the iPhone will be available in late Q3 2007. iPhone users will be able to take advantage of a free 60-day trial of the Visto Mobile service. For more details and pre-sign up, go to www.vistomobile.com/iphone.
Visto Mobile for the iPhone will be available on the afternoon of September 28th, the last business day in Q3. It will also be mind-boggingly expensive. For a pre-sign up page with no discernible additional details and a sign up-form by which usage you allow Visto’s salesmen unlimited access to pester you in the future, go to www.vistomobile.com/iphone.
