Eight Megabits and Constantly Streaming

If you come from a G4 Mac, you will not believe how responsive the MacBook is with a high-bandwidth Internet connection. I was on vacation when I received it, and it’s only now that I’ve been able to pair it with my home connection. This is all.

I-did-totally-not-just-make-these-up points up for grabs if you catch the reference in the title.

  1. “EMACS”

  2. Correct. +1 IDTNJMTU point for you.

(”Eight megabytes and constantly swapping” is a derogatory backronym for the text editor Emacs, usually professed by those using more nimble competitors.)

  3. Pardon me for butting in, but shouldn’t that be “Escape Meta Alt Control Shift” ? ;)

  4. Robert: Sure, but that wouldn’t make a good transmuted title.

I should add that given the choice between vi and emacs, I do use emacs, but given the choice between any command line text editor, I choose pico/nano. I didn’t mean to lampoon emacs specifically, it was just a top-of-the-head pun.

  5. Heh, I get the title thing. As far as I’m concerned, you can lampoon any command line text editor. I’ll use vi if I must, but I consider all of the above cruel and unusual punishment ;)

BTW: Best vi comment I heard so far: “Vi has two modes - one where it beeps, and one where it doesn’t ” ;)
