Dear Waffle,
The wind, daily drizzle of rain, and leaves all tell me that fall is creeping into the Philadelphia area. I am hoping it will keep the psychotic “(your candidate) for (selected office)” people off the streets. Most ask a variation of a question that goes like “Want to help (remove/keep) Bush (from/in) office?” When I inform them I am already registered to vote, their eyes turn black and they start asking for donations. Given the amount of bullshit commercials running 24/7 I am not inclined to think any political group in this country needs money. Recently I remembered that one of my favorite song titles of all time is “(Lord Its Hard To Be Happy When You’re Not) Using The Metric System”. So very, very true.
Last night, I bought a “press pot” to make coffee at work. Though we have a lovely bunch of support staff in the office, the coffee produced is simply horrible. Not unique to my office, I imagine; highly recommend the press-pot if you are interested in making great coffee at work.
Finally, I have been toying with a modified “Getting Things Done” system for what feels like over a year now. Via my del.icio.us inbox I found a link to an article by Jeff Sandquist that I wished I would have found when I started. Could be helpful if you are looking to clean up your daily processes?
Well, I must prepare for tonight’s concert featuring Pretty Girls Make Graves and Death Cab for Cutie. It seems that Death Cab has finally reached astronomical popularity and I will have to be in line a bit early to get a decent view. Mostly though I want to see the nice girls making graves because I have been out of town or pre-assigned to other concerts when they have been in town before.
Best wishes from your bearded Philadelphia friend,
Shawn
You mean Philly has a beard?

You lucky bastard. I want to see Pretty Girls Make Graves and Death Cab… =|
P.S. It’s mildly amusing to me that both bands have names involving death, and (i’m assuming) they’re touring together. Note to self: check websites for tour info.

Yeah, the promoter for Death Cab has a since of humor since they were also paired with the Dismemberment Plan for the…. wait for it….
Death and Dismemberment tour.
Good show last night, the lovely grave making ladies were so amazing. The lead singer’s voice is a little bit softer (instead of “raspy”) live than it is on the album. The guitarist seems to take a little influence from the “The Edge” actually, in his playing style.
The last two albums had me sold but now I know I am hooked on them.
