“Patience,” said Slartibartfast again. “Great things are afoot.”
“That’s what you said last time we met,” said Arthur.
“They were,” said Slartibartfast.
“Yes, that’s true,” admitted Arthur.
The “Busy” Post
The Ignorant Music Store
What kind of pan-EU store leaves out half the known European Union? I don’t know about you, but in my world, Luxembourg buys less music than Sweden.
Update: I am aware of the Euro issue. I’m not thinking that they won’t ever release stores for the rest of us (heh!). I know that they will probably release those later on, but if I’m bitter about anything, it’s that they couldn’t even make one or two non-Euro stores into the launch. I’m convinced that there are at least one more EU store that’s just waiting to be released, and that I hope it’ll be released alongside the Canadian store in November.
I like my pants long.
Dear Waffle,
The wind, daily drizzle of rain, and leaves all tell me that fall is creeping into the Philadelphia area. I am hoping it will keep the psychotic “(your candidate) for (selected office)” people off the streets. Most ask a variation of a question that goes like “Want to help (remove/keep) Bush (from/in) office?” When I inform them I am already registered to vote, their eyes turn black and they start asking for donations. Given the amount of bullshit commercials running 24/7 I am not inclined to think any political group in this country needs money. Recently I remembered that one of my favorite song titles of all time is “(Lord Its Hard To Be Happy When You’re Not) Using The Metric System”. So very, very true.
Last night, I bought a “press pot” to make coffee at work. Though we have a lovely bunch of support staff in the office, the coffee produced is simply horrible. Not unique to my office, I imagine; highly recommend the press-pot if you are interested in making great coffee at work.
Finally, I have been toying with a modified “Getting Things Done” system for what feels like over a year now. Via my del.icio.us inbox I found a link to an article by Jeff Sandquist that I wished I would have found when I started. Could be helpful if you are looking to clean up your daily processes?
Well, I must prepare for tonight’s concert featuring Pretty Girls Make Graves and Death Cab for Cutie. It seems that Death Cab has finally reached astronomical popularity and I will have to be in line a bit early to get a decent view. Mostly though I want to see the nice girls making graves because I have been out of town or pre-assigned to other concerts when they have been in town before.
Best wishes from your bearded Philadelphia friend,
Shawn
Learning through play.
One of the perks of being in a Sociology of Cyberspace class is that you are expected to go on a handful of “field trips” throughout the semester. Tuesday’s fieldtrip - RuneScape.
Definitely not my cup of tea as far as MMORPG’s go, but we’re there to not only play - we have to observe the in-game society and its quirks.
Maybe I’ll post a follow-up on Wednesday but somehow I have a feeling this isn’t going to work out too well. Our class has a… penchant… for getting involved in awkward situations on field trips. (I’m basing that only on their first trip to Achaea, but they effectively ostracized themselves from the community. So maybe it will be fun after all.)
